Just finished a uni mid-semester test, so I decided I'd have a bit of break and list down all the stuff I wanted to make... so I'd at least have a list. Alas, I have no moneys at the moment, so this is only a list... but I have very strong aspirations for most of them to come true.
Behold! My list of crazy ideas!
Three costumes:
#1: Captain Tah'Vraay of "Looking for Group". Seeing as the creators of the web-comic Looking for Group are attending Armageddon this year, I turned my eye to making a costume of one of my favourite characters: Captain Tah'Vraay. (the female pirate in the last two frames of lfgcomic.com/page/117 ) The clothing itself shouldn't be a problem.. and I have discovered a very handy tutorial on making boots from scratch (coz buying those would be EXPENSIVE!) The white wig will have to be bought and then styled, but I'll probably get some good use out of it, so it'll be a good purchase. ... the blue skin... .... help plz?
EDIT: HO(ly)SHIT!! please excuse the caps, but... BLACK FAUX-LEATHER BOOTS, KNEE-HIGH, $22!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! ... *ahem* they aren't perfect for what i need but I thought, 22 bucks, and they're comfy as. ... win.
#2: Luna Lovegood of "Harry Potter". The midnight screening at IMAX is gunna be awesome!! I already have the fabric I need to make myself a Ravenclaw robe (coz I always considered myself a Ravenclaw, as opposed to every fangirl who loves Gryffindor). The most important part will be the blonde wig (i'm going to have to start a wig collection ) ... and of course Luna's trademark radish earrings, Butterbeer cork necklace and Spectrespecs. Other than that I just need to dig around in an opshop until I find some suitable grey school wear.
#3: Necromancer. I am so pumped for next year's Melbourne Zombie Shuffle, having participated the last two years. Upon some thought I wondered how such a large collection of zombies managed to appear so quickly, and in one concentrated area... then I realised... a necromancer raised them all from their graves.
I have still to decide on the design... but if I end up finishing Tah'Vraay (#1) in time... I'll be using those boots. Depending upon the weather, I may have a cloak/cape... but mostly I'll be keeping to easily washable fabrics... as I don't want to wreck a good costume and get it covered in zombie blood.
Any suggestions for the design?
Other little projects I've been working on:
** My chainmaille. I've been practising Helm Chain, Half Persian 3-1, European 6-1 and Dragonscale and I'm getting quite good at it, if I do say so myself. *is proud*
** Custom made everyday wear. After customising a pair of pants with electric blue ribbon lacing, I thought, why the hell not? My current inspirations are 's creations here porkshanks.deviantart.com/art/… and here porkshanks.deviantart.com/art/…

Here we go!!
With Supanova looming, my motivation has kicked in and I have made significant progress on my Lucario gear, finishing my gloves barely an hour ago... Only have the tail and the spikes to do... unless I decide to make a major change to my shoes... (anyone got black converses, size 9, I can borrow?)
Work has begun on a new avatar, one slightly less boring and amaturish than the current one.
But most importantly, with the help of the wonderful ~ralphwiggumsays (https://www.deviantart.com/ralphwiggumsays) I HAVE A DRESS FORM!! He helped to wrap me up in packing tape until I had a shell of armour, then kindly cut me out of it so I could breathe again. =P The result, a dress form that
ZOMG! Actually working on stuff now!
Hooray! Finally I decided to put my arse into gear and start working on some pieces to upload!
Piece #1: My avatar!! Finally decided on a design and what I want it to do (animated, of course. =P) So now I have completed the main frames as pixel art... now I just need someone to teach me how to animate them together. ^^; ... Justin?
Piece #2: My Lucario costume! XD I have all the bits and bobs that I need... now to bring it all together and completion... Already part way there thanks to my wonderful and magnificent cousin !Gone-Wrong (https://www.deviantart.com/gone-wrong) (OMG! I did a link and it worked!! Look! Look! I'm learning! :excited: ... =P)
I have more in store...
I will get round to doing something... eventually
I joined DeviantART thinking "yeah! I get slightly more access than I had before!" =P but now I'm feeling slightly inadequate that I still haven't submitted any work...
Never fear though! I have several projects rolling around in my head, so as soon as I finish my uni exams and have that out of the way, then the creative juices can flow. =D
But now it's time to raid my mother's super duper high awesome camera and take some pictures of some of my older projects, namely some of my chainmail and some cosplay costumes! =D
The start of something..... devious. ,p
Hello world! I am now a member of deviantART. Hear me roar! ...RAWR. =P
The hardest thing in signing up was picking my name... I wanted something I'd like forever, so I've been thinking on it for a few hours... At last I came up with Mercury-Dreams (and yes, there is another guy out there called mercurydreams, without the hyphen, but don't worry, I'm not stalking you nor am I trying to steal your identity. =P We both just have good taste. :D)
I could probably list the reasons why I like the name... but it would be a very long list. =P So I'll leave you to figure it out.
On the business end of things, I don't think I'll be uploading anythin
